The Ale & Audio podcast began in November 2020 as an experiment for Jimbo who wanted to try out the new podcasts with music feature through Spotify but also as a place for him to talk about his new journey into the world of craft beer. Jimbo had created a new Instagram account (of the same name) for posting about his craft beers just a few months prior to this. 

Around this time, in the winter of 2021 (during a period of Covid-19 lockdowns), like many people, Jimbo began to create a space in a garden shed to work but then after seeing other peoples creations online, decided to turn it into a home bar (pub shed).

In the Spring of 2021 Jimbos former radio sidekick "Judge John" joined Jimbo to bring back a popular feature from their radio days, "the song request courtroom", where listeners choose songs and get scores from the Judge. 

By Summer 2021 the episodes were starting to feature and talk about pub sheds and home bars from across Instagram and Jimbo was joined by Dave Hardy of the Hardy Arms in Leicester and Andy Dunn of the Dunn Inn in Stoke, for weekly quizzes and features centred around home bars and craft beer.  The episodes began connect the Instagram communities of beer lovers and home bar owners together and grow. In relation to this, the podcast episode streams also grew rapidly. By Christmas 2021 the song request courtroom part of the show had also grown in popularity and listener and pub shed owner Martyn (of the Patriot Lockdown Bar) joined the Judging Panel as Judge Pat. Later in 2022 a third Judge, Judge Peggy (Sharon) of the Ashmore Arms also joined. As of August 2023, the podcast is getting upwards of 1000 streams per month and is in the top 5 most shared podcasts globally.
